walking on sunshine

Well, i'm back from Bangkok. It was an enjoyable 5d4n trip.

Like other people who goes there, we took off to the major shopping areas like Chatuchak Market, Khao San Road, Suam Lum Night Bazaar and Pratunam Market. Well, Pratunam market is just a stone throw away from the hotel i was staying at. Baiyoke Boutique Hotel. It's next to Baiyoke Sky Hotel, which is the tallest buidling in Thailand.

Other than those markets, we went to MBK and Siam Centre. That area has the highest concentration of shopping centres. I think about 5 shopping centres in the same street. Something like Orchard Road, but their shopping centres are all Vivo-sized. haha.

Went to tourist attractions like floating market which is located on the outskirts of Bangkok. 1 hour ride! Floating market has nothing much. Won't go there again if i visit Bangkok. Erawan Shrine which has the famous four-faced Buddha, which is particularly famous among the Singaporeans. You know their motive. Pray for health and 4-d numbers. LOL.

Visited the Grand Palace and King Palace. Fanciful infrastructure with exquisite architecture designs. Lots of tourists there.

Went to the Dusit Zoo. Not that bad as what i think was going to be. Got the chance to feed the elephants with fruits and vegetables. It's really nice. And a ride around the Zoo on a carriage pulled by horses.

Other than that, we had massage for the last 3 nights. It's much cheaper as compared to elsewhere. So yar.

The roadside stalls is an amazing sight too. At first i was hesitant to consume the food for fear of the hygiene practice involved, but later, dropped it off since this is the way Bangkok is supposed to be.

Everything is good except for the countless taxi and tuk tuk drivers who will stop at nothing to try to rip off money from unsuspecting tourists. You will always hear this advice from friends who've been to Bangkok. Take the taxi and use the METER. No meter, don't board the taxi. It's true, and if you fail to follow, you've just been ripped off.

The traffic jam is terrible too. Day and night.

I had the chance to experience a minor flood. Was raining heavily one night, so with the lack of drainage system, water level started to rise. Just below the exhaust pipe. Quite an interesting sight, but nothing to hooray about. Cos for that night we ended up not being able to travel anywhere.

Pretty much about all. Pictures next time! :D
